Small Business Showcase: Southern Roots Boutique & Salon
Check out our second featured small business owner, Summer, of Southern Roots Boutique and Salon. I love this little boutique, it is full of so many cute items, from home decor, to gear for your favorite local high school team (Clear Spring Chargers, Friendswood Mustangs, Bay Area Christian), great clothes for mom, baby, sister, and brother, and not to mention the abundance of Texans gear and decor. The amount of time you could spend in this boutique is endless, and that's not including the relaxing amenities offered at the salon, including hair services and facials, with massages coming very soon!
What inspired you to start your boutique/salon?
I love the relationships I have with my clients. They share the best news, ideas, stories etc... I enjoy the conversations we share and the relationships we build. Being the owner, I get to socialize with all of the clients that come into the shop.
How would I describe my business in 3 adjectives?
Welcoming, cozy, and eclectic
How would you describe your personal style?
I like things that make me feel good. It doesn't matter if it's a fuzzy scarf, a soft blanket, a delicate picture frame, or a pair of sunglasses that fit my face. I like everything. I don't tend to stick to one particular style. The seasons change as do trends. I'll try anything once, but if it makes me feel good, I'll stick with it. It's like wearing your favorite pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
How or why did you start your boutique/salon?
I have worked in a busy salon, a smaller salon, and individually. All three experiences were great, however having a salon & boutique that offers a variety of services really allows me to come into contact with lots of new people. I love chatting with clients who are new to the area or who were referred to the salon.
Do you give back to the community, if so how?
I have donated services and items from the salon for different events, craft shows, school raffles, etc. It's a great way to support the schools and students in the area. I have several students who work at my front desk and I want to support them in all that they do.
"When you buy from a small business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom put food on the table, a dad pay a mortgage or a student pay for college." ~Author Unknown
